By Robert Palmer If you're one of the millions of people working one or even two jobs and either just making ends meet or desperately trying to, there's a solution you may have neglected to consider that doesn't involve piling on another "job." I worked forty hours a week in the grocery business for twelve years. While I was able to pay all of my bills and get out to the movies and dinner once a month, there was hardly ever anything left over for the shiny digital toys I wanted, or to fix my rusty trusty Subaru. I took on another job (as a newspaper delivery driver) but it wasn't worth it. My profit vanished as gasoline crested $3 per gallon. Looking for a better way without even realizing it, I spotted a flashy how-to book on copywriting while browsing the self-help section of a bookstore. In it, the author explained how he had gotten a start as a professional writer working part time from home while still putting in hours for his regular employer. By doing so, he'd eliminated a lot of the pressure and stress of building his own business from the ground up by maintaining a steady income. There was logic in that. I bought the book and followed his advice. By staying at my full-time job while building my own online writing business, I was able to keep an income and add another while doing something I had always loved. It took a few months before I earned any money (I actually lost three month's worth of website membership dues--$9.99--before I got my first paying gig,) and a little longer before earning a decent payday but I stuck with it and those paydays did come. Within six months, I was able to pay off one credit card entirely, buy two new computers for my wife and I, upgrade our home network, and purchase a 42 inch flat screen TV. The "extra" money I was making online also helped when I went shopping for a car (it's a compact import but it's brand new!) Meanwhile, my "real job" was paying for my health insurance, building my 401k, and taking care of the monthly bills. Writing is not for everyone but working from home can be. Subject: An Internet Guru With Transparency - How Refreshing By Gary Eaton Over the past year I have spent countless hours searching for the best business model that will meet my needs personally, professionally and financially. In that search I have come across hundreds of so-called Guru�s that have the perfect system to make me hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. The other problem with most of these offers is they provide very little detail on what you are getting involved in until AFTER you buy their product. I don�t have the time to waste on �mystery� business models. I know what I want, what my strengths are and I am looking for something that will work over the long-haul. I want a system that will work today, tomorrow, next month and next year. I don�t want to have to reinvent my business when things change, I just want to make small adjustments as business evolves. Sure, I would love to make $30,000 or more my first month...but I guess I am just a realist. So it was incredibly refreshing to recently discover a video from affiliate marketing Guru James Martell. The advertisers provide the marketing materials and they provide all the tracking with specialized tracking software they have installed on their computers. I must use my time exceptionally wisely. Every week I wish there was one more day to work. So over the years, I�ve learned tricks of my own to further productivity. One of them is to surround myself with key people in the field I�m interested in. Online searches and self-teaching are great when it comes to recipes or basic accounting, but the self-teach tips for affiliate marketing are not very useful and to find them is time consuming. To apply them is confusing and, when I face a challenge, I have nobody to turn to, which means this cycle of going-at-it-alone starts again. While I knew what affiliate marketing was, by description, I didn�t understand the ins and outs or the depths of the industry. So I knew how to make money in affiliate marketing, but didn�t know how to make money in affiliate marketing. About the Publishers An affiliate is a publisher. As a site owner, affiliates publish a website or newsletter, and that�s where the term was derived from. Publishers join an advertiser�s affiliate program by completing an application. Upon acceptance, publishers are provided with marketing materials, such as text links, articles and banner ads. These materials have tracking codes embedded in them, so when a visitor clicks on the link and a transaction occurs, the publisher receives money for that referral. The codes are invisible and the system is sound. Publishers are paid monthly via PayPal, check or direct deposit for each time a sale was made. What About the Advertisers? Merchants are called advertisers because they advertise on our sites. Instead of buying print ad space from newspapers and alike, they receive the ad space for no upfront fees. This makes their risk literally zero, as they pay a nice commission for each visitor we refer to them that results in a sale. The advertisers provide the marketing materials and they provide all the tracking with specialized tracking software they have installed on their computers. What About Affiliate Marketing as a Business; Can it be a Main Source of Income?
